Open Banking Opportunities and Challenges in Financial Services

By using application programming interfaces (APIs), open banking in India represents a sea change in the banking industry. With this change, banks and third-party vendors can safely exchange data with one another. In this study, we look at open banking in the context of India and identify its advantages and disadvantages. It shows how open banking may help marginalized areas by enhancing client experiences, boosting competition, and promoting financial inclusion. In an effort to foster innovation and collaboration, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is implementing regulatory frameworks like the Account Aggregator model, among other initiatives. However, data privacy problems, regulatory compliance difficulty, legacy system integration, customer education needs, and trust building are all areas that the research delves into. By analyzing these processes, this study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how open banking might change India's financial landscape. Furthermore, the study aims to stress the significance of risk management in safeguarding consumer interests. By shedding light on how open banking could promote economic growth and broaden access to financial services in an increasingly digital economy, this study adds to the continuing conversation about the future of banking in India. .

Strategies For Improving the Inertia of Power Systems for Which Renewable Energy Is the Predominant Source

The global shift towards renewable energy sources (RESs) introduces challenges in maintaining system inertia and frequency stability in modern power systems. Traditional synchronous generators, which inherently provide mechanical inertia, are increasingly replaced by converter-based renewable generation, resulting in low-inertia grids prone to frequency deviations. This research addresses these challenges by proposing virtual inertia strategies using Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Supercapacitor Energy Storage Systems (SESS). Advanced control methods, including Frequency-Locked Loop (FLL) based frequency derivative estimation, are implemented to emulate inertial responses effectively. Distributed control schemes are developed for coordinated ESS operation, improving frequency nadir and reducing Rate of Change of Frequency (RoCoF). Simulation and experimental validation using MATLAB/Simulink and real-time setups confirm the practicality of the proposed strategies. This study contributes to enhancing power system resilience, offering solutions for dynamic stability in grids with high renewable penetration while addressing secondary concerns like voltage stability and harmonic distortions..

Sediment erosion is one of the key challenges in hydraulic turbines from a design and maintenance perspective in Himalayas. The present study focuses on choosing the best design in terms of blade angle distribution of a Francis turbine runner which has least erosion effect without influencing the efficiency and the structural integrity. A fully coupled Fluid-Structure-Interaction (FSI) analysis was performed through a multi-field solver, which showed that the maximum stress induced in the optimized design for better sediment handling, is less than that induced in the reference design.
